The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and Latifa Hospital stepped up their efforts in supporting the road safety of the new born and kids, aiming at the introduction of mandatory child car seats.
A very engaging event on 2-Jun at the Latifa Hospital was attended by the hospital’s CEO and the passionate Team of Latifa Hospital, senior representatives of the Dubai Health Authority, RTA, RoadSafetyUAE and one of our CSR supporters JustKidding® (experts for child car seats and more) – ref.: http://www.roadsafetyuae.com/child-seats/
The Team of Latifa Hospital and DHA conducted a preliminary research among more than 130 women giving birth in the week ahead of the event, with some alarming figures:
- 57% of respondents claim to have no proper child seat available for their new born for their journey home after delivery (only 38% claimed ‘yes’).
- 34% believe it is safer to hold a baby in their arms, than in a proper child seat.
- Additional research over a longer time period will be conducted to validate the findings
The event followed an initial task force meeting to discuss introduction of mandatory child car seats on 3-May, which was attended by DHA, Latifa Hospital, MOI, RTA, RoadSafetyUAE and our CSR supporter BMW, who are an active supporter of the topic of seat belts and kids restraint systems – ref.: http://www.roadsafetyuae.com/fasten-seat-belts/
