That’s quite a remarkable story!
RoadSafetyUAE.com got interviewed by Dubai Eye 103.8 in Dec. 2014 about the pedestrian fatality in JLT . We invited listeners to come forward with situations, where pedestrian crossings are missing.
The HomeGrownChildren Eco Nursery posted on http://www.roadsafetyuae.com/proposals/speed-bumps-needed-al-sanbook-street-umm-sequeim-2/ about their years-long desire for a safe crossing for children and parents.
We engaged with RTA, and after proper due-diligence, end of February 2015 a wonderful zebra crossing was installed. Everyone is happy!
Morale: For sure, there are a lot of shortcomings of road safety, but this example shows, things can change to the better! The Nursery summarized the developments very nicely in the attached presentation and the kids drew some heart-warming ‘thank-you’ posters!
